Between January and June 2025, Standing Tall Scotland worked with leading mural artist Ursula Kam-Ling Cheng to deliver a project that culminated in the unveiling of two new murals – one at SWG3 Yardworks in Glasgow, the other at The Music Hall in Aberdeen.
Over a series of creative sessions, Cheng worked with young people in both Glasgow and Aberdeen to co-create the murals. Cheng is provided provocations, working responsively to the ideas and innovations of the young people, and accumulating and building upon the artworks they generated to create the final large-scale designs.
The works are powerful expression of resilience, hope and strength and reflect the richness of the cultures and experience of the young people who have participated.
Both murals were part of Refugee Festival Scotland 2025; and the Aberdeen mural was also part of Light the Blue Festival 2025.
This project was delivered in partnership with Guardianship Scotland and Aberdeen Performing Arts, and with support from SWG3 Yardworks.
